In May of 2020 I was asked to be the Consulting Director of Photography / Lighting Designer for Apple’s Fitness+ new space in California. This was an incredibly exciting and challenging project for a client that I have worked with for many years.

Working with an amazing creative team at Apple I was given the mandate to create over 30 different looks for multiple modalities all within the same space. This is a permanent, long term, install. All looks were to be pre-programmed with no floor based lighting or crew to make any adjustments. Hence the challenge began. Working closely, yet remotely at first, with the client, my gaffer and dimmer board op, we set out to create the look and feel for this exciting new product.

The four month long project was a learning experience for all of us. It was truly an exciting venture to keep pushing what is technically achievable without compromising the look and aesthetic that Apple are known for.

I look forward to bringing my experience as Lighting Designer to similar projects for other leading brands around the world.
